Changing Lives Champions
At SA Home Loans we’re passionate about #ChangingLives of fellow South Africans, our outreach programmes provide an opportunity for us to share our time, talents and knowledge to give back and improve our communities.
We genuinely care for each other and the people of South Africa and we have a strong sense of community which motivates us to get involved, make an impact and contribute meaningfully to society.
All staff are encouraged to be our Changing Lives Champions and are given time away from work to help their communities with:
- Early childhood development centres and schools – helping with maintenance, painting, renovating classrooms, upgrading bathrooms, creating libraries and computer labs.
- Community spaces – by cleaning up community spaces, beaches, sport fields and parks.
- Reducing poverty – by collecting contributions towards food parcels and helping to pack meals for those in need.
Bhekimpilo Creche is a day care facility situated in Waterloo, Durban – SA Home Loans staff renovated classrooms and upgraded bathrooms and the play-area for the children of this community creche.
Quarry Heights Primary School is a no fee-paying school in Newlands East, Durban. SA Home Loans sponsored a computer lab which the school has been running as a computer club to help develop coding and basic IT skills.
SA Home Loans donated sanitary towels to Grade 10 – 12 girls at the Mabayala Secondary School in Ndwedwe. With this initiative we aimed to restore dignity, self-esteem and to equip girls with an all-rounded education that will allow them to become leaders and make a meaningful impact in their communities in the future.
SA Home Loans staff in Durban preparing nutritional sandwiches, fighting strongly against hunger, for our future leaders in Spearman Road Primary. This is a low-income school in Sydenham, which is not part of the government's feeding scheme.
