In 2001 I found out my husband was having an affair. My son was 1 at the time. My husband said that he refused to move out and said that I must leave. So, I did, as one does when they are dumped :) Suitcase in hand, son under arm, I moved in with my dad. I lived there for 6 months, out of a suitcase. Then I decided it was time to buy a place, as I refused to ever be in that situation again. I viewed this amazing little 60 sqm townhouse. I loved it the moment I walked in, and told the agent it was going to be mine! I put in an offer, but it was rejected as another couple put in an offer for R10 000 more. I then got a call 3 days later, and was informed that the couple's offer had been rejected as the bank declined their bond request. Sorry for them, the place was mine! I love the security of my own home. First time home owner at the age of 35.... Better late than never. At least I know now that I will never be "homeless" again. My son (now 12) and I love our home!
