The property next door to us has great potential but has been neglected for many years. I always dreamed of buying this house, and to renovate it to its former beauty. However, I felt that owning a second property was only possible for the rich and famous. When the owner had indicated that the property was for sale, I immediately applied for finance. This appeared to be the start of severe frustration, humiliation and shattered dreams. The financial institution treated me like a number (possibly a zero!) and after a period of 8 weeks, a 100 empty promises, and a 1000 excuses I still did not have a definite answer.
