We sold our house in Sea View to go and live on a smallholding in the Umlaas Road area to try our hand at farming on a small scale. Things did not work out for us financially and we had to sell and return to Durban. We did not make a profit from the sale of the farm and were unable to purchase a house for more than R150 000.00. We found a "mixed construction" home however banks would not finance us because of the mixed construction and SA Home Loans were the only ones who would give us a bond. They are extremely helpful and in all the years that we have been with them, they have done their utmost to assist us with further advances. A real personal touch is what they offer compared to other banks. Without them we would not have been able to afford to buy a home.
