NOVEMBER'S COMPETITION WINNER My story starts in March 2007 whereby I was shot while on duty attending to an armed robbery complaint in Isipingo,Durban. At the time I was 30 seconds from the shopping centre where armed suspects walked into the shopping centre and tried to rob it. When we arrived on the scene I was shot and the robbers ran into a nearby taxi rank, at first I did not realise what had happened and got out the police vehicle and chased after the suspects to get as much clothing descriptions as I could, as the gang came out with guns drawn. I went to a nearby hospital and was treated by a doctor. The whole incident was quite comical afterwards as I stood in front of the receptionist who heard gunfire and I appeared in front of her with bulletproof and gear and stating I was shot. I then was rushed in to be taken care of. I slowly recovered over the months and returned to work. In 2008 I left the Police to take up a much better job and approached the estate agents to assist in viewing properties that I could afford, I eventually found a great big flat that met my requirements and been thrilled with it. I was "vetted" by ooba and various agencies and was rejected a loan for my dream home; that was a heavy blow to my heart.
